![]() The budget is based on the goals, vision and priorities set by the IID Board of Directors, with many stretching into the future. It includes debt coverage, other financial metrics and financing of major operational and support services capital projects and vehicle purchases. The budget has been prepared to assure that the district's bond covenants and board-approved reserve levels are met. IID is progressive in considering alternatives to meet these needs while continuing to provide critical energy and water services at the lowest possible cost for its customers. Providing reliable energy and water continues to be a priority for the district as both energy capacity and water resources become strained due to the available energy supply and the continuing drought that threatens the Colorado River. IID continues to invest in clean battery storage, renewable energy resources and battery-operated vehicles while working to upgrade and rebuild existing transmission lines, acquire renewable energy facilities and upgrade aging generation facilities. The Energy Department's 2022 budget is balanced and includes financing to fund deferred capital projects. The 2022 Water Department budget reflects the use of water transfer reserves for 2021 with a carryover of on-farm payments. With relatively flat revenues and rising expenditures, operational cash flow in both the Water and Energy Departments continue to be affected, so budgeted expenditures have been tightened. The proposed capital investment plan ensures water conservation and helps meet California's ambitious clean air act. The 2022 budget attempts to reinvigorate some of the priorities and capital programs that had earlier been deferred.
